On March 22, 2021 at 9:00am, HMHA’s HCV Waiting List will open for applicants with disabilities, and those who are veterans ONLY.
Veteran preference is offered to an income eligible individual or family whose head of household or spouse is a veteran of current member of the military who was discharged or released from such services for other than dishonorable conditions. A widow/widower of a discharged or released service person for other than dishonorable conditions is also eligible for this preference if he or she has not remarried. A copy of your DD-214 must be provided when returning your application.
HMHA also has targeted funding for nonelderly disabled. The head of household, spouse, or co-head of household must be income eligible, under age 62, and disabled. Families with only a minor child with a disability are not eligible for this funding. A copy of the head of household, spouse, or co-head’s Social Security disability award letter must be provided when returning your application.
If you do not meet either preference, your application will be denied.
Income-eligible individuals and families can apply from 8:30am to 11:59am on the first Wednesday of each month.
You can pick up an application at HMHA’s office located in The Family Center at 1800 N. Blanchard Street, Suite 114, Findlay, Ohio 45840.

Applicants to the HCV Program must meet a number of requirements detailed in HMHA’s Administrative Plan including:
- Income eligibility

Income eligibility is determined by comparing the family’s annual income (gross income) with the HUD established low-income limit for HMHA’s jurisdiction.
To qualify for the program, applicants must have an income at or below 50% of the area median income (AMI) based on their family size. Median income levels are published by HUD and vary by location.

The Application Process
After the preliminary application is returned to HMHA, the information is entered into a computer system and your name is placed on a waiting list.
Our waiting list is electronically sorted by preferences and date and time of application. HMHA has a preference for veteran households and targeted funding for head of household, spouse and/or co-applicant with a disability.
Since the demand for housing assistance often exceeds the limited resources available to HUD and the local housing authority, a long waiting period could be possible.
When your name is pulled from the waiting list you will receive a letter for a scheduled appointment.
